Term 4
Welcome back everyone! I hope we all had restful February break and are now ready to continue our learning journey in year 4. We have lots of new and exciting learning this term, and I am very excited to see how much we all learn and the progress we make. We have now completed half of Year 4 and are starting to build towards Year 5!
Enquiry Question - Geography
Beyond the Magic Kingdom: What is the Sunshine State really like?
Throughout this enquiry, we will be learning about a lot of key physical geography concepts, such as a 'peninsula' and the extreme weather that Florida faces in hurricanes. We will look at the human geography of the area with an investigation into why this location was chosen for NASA's launch site - the Kennedy Space Centre.
Forest School
Our Forest School days are: Thursday 27th February, 6th and 13th March.
Please send your child into school wearing their school uniform with a Forest School kit in a bag. Please ensure the Forest School clothes are appropriate for the weather that day.
Please send in wellies that can be kept in school to utilise the outdoor learning spaces every day.
PE
Our PE lessons will be on a Wednesday afternoon. This term, we will be learning football. Please send the children to school with their PE kits in their bag. Please ensure the PE kits are suitable for outdoor PE - we will try and learn outside when the weather allows.
Please make sure earrings are able to be removed by the child or taped up - this is a safety precaution.
Reading
Our book this term is: Charlotte's Web by E. B. White.
This heart-warming story follows a young girl, her pig and an amazing spider. The young girl does not think 'being runt of the litter' is a good enough reason to cast the young piglet aside and endeavours to look after it.
Please encourage your child to read every day at home! The more children read the better they perform in all areas of their life.
Please contact our teaching team if you would like any support with reading at home.
Key skills
All children have log-in details for Spelling Shed and TTRockstars. We would encourage children to avoid/limit screen time; however, if they are using a device, please encourage the children to practice their key skills of spelling and times tables with websites like these.
The Term 4 knowledge organisers below provide information on our learning for this term.
