Year 3 - Kingfisher Class
Welcome to Kingfisher Class. Our teacher is Miss Haynes and our
Teaching Assistant is Mrs Llong.
I hope you all had a brilliant half term! I can't believe it is already our last term in Year 3!
Our topic for Term 6 will have a geography focus answering the question: 'Why are jungles so wet and deserts so dry?' In this topic we will be using skills to identify animals and the biome they live in. This topic will also go into D.T., Science, English and Reading. In D.T. our topic for the term is eating seasonally. We will be cooking using fruit and vegetables from Kent and all around the world. In Science, we are continuing our plants topic. In English, we will be writing non-chronological reports in the form of animal fact files, as well as seasonal recipes and letters to the rainforest creatures.
This term we will be reading 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry.
P.E. : Our P.E. days will continue to be Monday and Thursday - we will be doing Rounders and Athletics. With the weather warming up we will be outdoors for both P.E. lessons this term, so dependent on the sunshine the children may prefer to start wearing shorts for P.E. and sun cream as you think necessary.
Forest School: Forest school continues to be fortnightly on a Wednesday morning this term. We will update you on class dojo which week each class will be doing. It will be less wet, but children should continue to wear their forest school clothes into school and bring their uniform and a named bag for changing into afterwards.
Forest School kit: named carrier bag for muddy clothes and shoes, long sleeved top, comfortable trousers, boots/old trainers and a coat for wet or cold weather.
