Spiritus Ad Surgere - Let Our Spirits Soar High

Year 2 - Penguin Class

Welcome to Penguin Class. Our class teacher is Mrs Read

The focus for our learning in Term 4 is around our geography enquiry question of 'How does the geography of Kampong Ayer compare with the geography of where I live?'.

We will be finding out about a water village called Kampong Ayer in Brunei and comparing this to where we live in Canterbury. This enquiry will help us to think in depth about where we live; in terms of the climate, the environment and human and physical features and how these differ to another locality in the world.  We will be developing our understanding of where we are in the world and how this relates to other continents and countries.  Our learning in English will link to this enquiry, where we will be writing a balanced argument to decide if Canterbury or Kampong Ayer is the best place to live.

During Term 4, our P.E day will be Fridays.  Please make sure your child has their kit in school on these days.  We will be doing outdoor P.E this term so your child will require jogging bottoms/leggings, a P.E top, a jumper and a pair of trainers.

Cathedral - Forest School

Our Forest School days will be on alternate Tuesdays. Please make sure your child brings their Forest School kit in with them on these days. It's especially cold and muddy in Forest School at this time of year so please make sure that your child comes prepared with warm clothes and a pair of wellies. Penguin Class Forest School days are:

Tuesday 28th February

Tuesday 14th March

Home learning is sent home every week on Fridays and should be returned by the following Thursday.  You will find six activities in the homework book.  Your child can select one of these to complete each week.  Children are also encouraged to read every day at home and receive Dojo points when they do this.
