Year 1 - Bumblebee Class
Welcome to Bumblebee Class, our teacher is Miss Tombs.
Our enquiry in Term 5 is 'How have explorers changed the world?'
During this enquiry the children will be introduced to the lives of explorers and the different challenges they met when travelling the world. They will develop their knowledge of significant people's lives at various points in the past. They will develop their use of historical vocabulary connected to the measuring of time and begin to use 'when' and 'where' questions relating to their historical study.
Year 1 children will have the opportunity to learn in Forest School on alternate Wednesdays and will need waterproof, warm clothes and Wellington boots.
Bumblebee Class Forest School Days in Term 5 are 26th April, 10th May and 24th May 2023.
Outdoor PE will be on Thursdays as we welcome a Tennis coach for Year 1 PE lessons and Indoor PE will be on Tuesdays. All children should have a PE kit to change into. It should include a named 'house' T-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms and a pair of plimsolls/trainers. No earrings should be worn on PE days.
Year 1 children are developing their reading skills, and it is very important that they read regularly. Each week they will bring home a phonics reading book that will help them to practise the sounds they have been learning in their phonics lessons. They will earn dojo points for every day they read at home during the week. Please aim to read with your child for 10 minutes every day. Book bags with reading books should be in school every day.
Homework will be given on Fridays and should be handed in the following Thursday. There will also be Spelling Shed assignments and phonics homework that the children can complete during the week.
If you have any questions please come and talk to me at the end of the day.
