Spiritus Ad Surgere - Let Our Spirits Soar High

Year 1 - Ladybird Class

Welcome to Ladybird Class, our teacher is Mrs Pursey

I am very excited to welcome you into year 1.

We are going to have lots of fun and do lots of new learning!

.This term we have a History focus and will be answering the question:

How has travel and transport changed over time?

The children will learn about the development of travel and transport throughout history and will be able to make comparisons between old and new forms of transport.

We will be working lots on our Phonics in order to blend and segment to read and write. The children will be bringing a new reading book home each Monday, which links to the sounds they are learning in Phonics. Please read with your child daily to help them consolidate their learning in school, this can be recorded in their reading records. We ask that book bags and reading books are in school every day to allow the children to read in school also, as well as earn dojos for reading daily.

We have indoor P.E on a Monday and outdoor P.E on a Friday. They can keep their P.E kits in their lockers. P.E kit should include; the house colour t-shirt, shorts or jogging bottoms, plimsolls or trainers.

We have Forest School every Wednesday. Please send in clothes you don't mind getting wet and muddy in a named bag. They will need; trousers, jumper, wellies and a waterproof coat.

If you have any questions, you can contact me via ClassDojo messages, or speak with me at the end of the day.
