Welcome to Term 6
Our Curious Quests this term will include, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, Penny Crayon (cartoon) and The Big Journey by Michael Rosen. In poetry we will be looking at a poem about our senses and in non-fiction we will be researching Tim Peake and his adventures in space. Our rich vocabulary to accompany The Quests will continue to be sent out each week on Class Dojo. Alongside this, we’ll carry on with our phonics learning. In Term 6, we will be learning more of the Level 5 sounds and practising and revising all the digraphs and trigraphs that we have learnt so far! We will also learn about prefixes and suffixes.

In maths, we will learn about place value using numbers to 100 and the measurement of time and money.
Our Geography enquiry is 'What is it like to live in Shanghai?' The children will investigate the wider world by locating continents, oceans and countries beyond the UK, with a focus on China.
Our science learning will be 'Making Connections - Investigating Science through Stories'. The children will consolidate their knowledge of plants and animals through picture books and practical investigations.
In DT the children will explore mechanisms with a focus on how sliding mechanisms create movement.
In Religion and Worldviews we will be finding out about different ceremonies to welcome a new baby and identifying similarities across different worldviews.
Our PE day is Tuesday and your child can wear their PE kit to school on that day. As the weather gets warmer we hope to have our PE learning outside.
Home learning will be reading Rhino Readers, Twinkl phonics and the Twinkl maths app. Your child should have their reading book in school every day and should practise reading at home on a daily basis. Reading books will be changed every Friday.
