Welcome to Term 5
Our Curious Quests this term will include Handa's Surprise, The Enormous Turnip, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and Rapunzel. We will also cover a cartoon from the past - Willo' the Wisp. Our rich vocabulary to accompany the quests will continue to be sent out each week on Class Dojo. Alongside this, we’ll carry on with our phonics learning. In Term 5, we will be learning more of the Level 5 sounds and practising and revising all the digraphs and trigraphs that we have learnt so far! We will also learn about prefixes and suffixes.

In maths, we will begin to learn about multiplication and division, fractions and in geometry we will learn about position and direction.
Our Science learning in Term 5 will be an introduction to plants. The children will learn to identify and name a variety of plants and investigate if beans need water to grow.
In Computing we will be looking at digital imagery - the children will develop photography and image editing skills to capture photos to create an adventure story.
In Art the children will be making paper-based 3D art forms using techniques such as rolling, folding and scrunching.
In Geography we will be learning about physical and human features. We finding out what it is like to live in Shanghai.
Our PE day is Tuesday and your child can wear their PE kit to school on that day. Where possible, this will be outside.
Home learning will be reading Rhino Readers, Twinkl phonics and the Twinkl maths app. Your child should have their reading book in school every day and should practise reading at home on a daily basis. Reading books will be changed every Friday.
