Our Curriculum

Our curriculum celebrates the unique identity of every child and reflects the rich diversity of our community. 

• Diverse Perspectives: We embrace the richness of local and global communities, integrating different cultures and values into our Humanities and Arts Hubs to ensure every pupil sees themselves in their learning. 

• Accessible Learning: Through Quality First Teaching and inclusive methods, we remove barriers to the curriculum, ensuring all children - including those with SEND or BML - feel they belong in every lesson. 

• Community Connection: We use first-hand experiences and local visits to museums and galleries to deepen children's sense of place within Canterbury and the wider world. 

We design "irresistible learning" experiences that inspire curiosity and the confidence to explore new ideas. 

• Ambitious Intent: Our curriculum is ambitious and broad, nurturing creativity and physical development alongside core subjects so that children believe in their talents. 

• Empowering Independence: By promoting independent learning skills and a "love for learning," we empower children to take ownership of their educational journey. 

• Confidence Through Enquiry: We use enquiry-based schemes (like Kapow!) to encourage pupils to ask perceptive questions and think critically, building self-belief in their intellectual abilities. 

Our carefully sequenced curriculum ensures that children know more, remember more, and attain their full potential. 

• Expert Implementation: New knowledge and skills are carefully sequenced from Nursery to Year 6, building on "firm foundations" in literacy and numeracy to ensure cumulative progress. 

• Academic Excellence: Through regular retrieval activities and high-quality schemes of work, we support long-term memory, enabling children to achieve deep understanding across all subjects. 

• Preparation for the Future: We aim to instill the confidence and skills necessary for children to flourish in their next stage of education and beyond, ensuring no "ceiling" is placed on their achievement.
