Spiritus Ad Surgere - Let Our Spirits Soar High

Year 5 - Lion Class

Welcome to Lion Class, our class teacher is Mr Cullen

Where lions once ruled, they are now quietly disappearing | National Geographic

This term, our topic is called "How fair is Fairtrade?". This topic will see us investigate where our food comes from - how it gets from 'Farm to Fork'. We will look at how we have global food production and if this is fair on all parties. We will look at the history of trade, with particular attention to the famous Marco Polo travelling along the Silk Road.

Forest School will continue as a whole day of forest school - the date is still to be decided, I will let you know. Please have the children wear weather appropriate clothes for the day. If you have anything you would like us to try and grow in forest school, please bring it into class.

PE will be on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Please ensure children have a full PE kit. The sun will hopefully be shining, therefore shorts and t-shirt with plenty to drink would be my recommendation!

In our writing, we are continuing to use a sentence technique called DADWAVERS! - each letter stands for a different sentence starter:

This term, we will be reading a classic, 'Stig of the Dump'. This enchanting story tells the tale of a young boy and his discovery of a strange being living in an abandoned chalk-pit. Their adventures demonstrate the true meaning of friendship and acceptance.

The Term 6 document below provides an overview of the topic planning.
