Year 5 - Otter Class

 Welcome to Otter class.

Our class teacher is Mrs Webb.

It is a great privilege to be teaching Year 5. We are in for a fantastic year and I am really looking forward to it! Our T.A is Mr. Dole and we also have the help of Mr. Hopgood and Miss Potts throughout the week.

Term 1

Our topic this term is a history-based enquiry, asking, What did the Greeks ever do for us? We will describe the features of Ancient Greece, identify the key periods in the ancient Greek civilisation and make inferences about Greek gods. We will also look at Greek philosophy and explain how Athenian democracy worked. 

For reading, we will study "Mark of the Cyclops" by Saviour Pirotta, a mystery story set in Ancient Greece involving two young servants who search for the culprit of a crime and the reason for it.

P.E will be led by Team Theme this term and is on Wednesday mornings. Please send children into school in their kit with their uniform in a clearly marked bag. 

We will have three Forest School sessions, starting on Friday 27th September. Children will need to bring their kit into school ready to change into after lunch. Please be mindful of the changing weather and choose appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather.
