Spiritus Ad Surgere - Let Our Spirits Soar High

Year 1 - Bumblebee Class

Welcome to Bumblebee Class, our teacher is Miss Tombs.

Our enquiry in Term 4 is 'What is the geography of where I live?'  During this enquiry the children will be investigating the geography of our local environment, including physical, natural and human features. It will focus on our immediate vicinity of the school and the children's homes and then extend to encompass the local area. Children will be able to identify, describe and offer reasons for the location of human and physical geographical features of the environment and begin to explain any changes in land use that have occurred.

Year 1 children will have the opportunity to learn in Forest School on alternate Wednesdays and will need waterproof, warm clothes and Wellington boots.

Bumblebee Class Forest School Days 1st March, 15th March and 29th March 2023.

Outdoor PE will be on Mondays and Indoor PE will be on Thursdays. All children should have a PE kit to change into. It should include a named 'house' T-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms and a pair of plimsolls/trainers. No earrings should be worn on PE days.

Year 1 children are developing their reading skills, and it is very important that they read regularly. Each week they will bring home a phonics reading book that will help them to practise the sounds they have been learning in their phonics lessons. They will earn dojo points for every day they read at home during the week. Please aim to read with your child for 10 minutes every day. Book bags with reading books should be in school every day.

Homework will be given on Fridays and should be handed in the following Thursday. There will also be Spelling Shed assignments that the children can complete during the week.

If you have any questions please come and talk to me at the end of the day.
