Year 1 - Butterfly Class
Welcome to Butterfly Class, our teacher is Miss Tombs.
Welcome to Term 6. Our topic this term is 'Why does it matter where my food comes from?'
At the beginning of the enquiry children will investigate one farm to establish the key fact that everything they eat comes either from a plant or animal. They will then concentrate their enquiry on dairy farms in Devon and compare and contrast these with banana plantations in Costa Rica. Throughout the topic the children will have opportunities to reflect on how locally sourced food and free-range production are considered environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Our PE days will be Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure your child has a PE kit at school on these days. Shorts/jogging bottoms, House PE T-Shirt and plimsolls or trainers. Please name these items clearly. Earrings should not be worn on these days.
In Term 6 Butterfly Class and Dragonfly Class will take turns to go to Forest School on Wednesday afternoons. Children will need a change of clothes for this. Please make sure they have suitable clothes, a waterproof jacket and Wellington boots as well.
Butterfly Class will go to Forest School on the following dates: Wednesday 15th June, Wednesday 29th June and Wednesday 13th July.
Reading books should be in school every day. Homework is to be handed in on Thursdays.
If you have any questions, please speak to us at the end of the day.
