Welcome to Term 3

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a great break.

This term we will focus on our History enquiry, 'How have toys changed?'. We will be learning about what toys used to be like back in the 1950s and how they have changed up until modern life. We will be looking at what toys existed and what they were made from.

In English, we will be looking at a variety of texts to support our enquiry question, such as 'Kipper’s Toy box' by Mick Inkpen, 'Old bear' by Jane Hissey and 'Dogger' by Shirley Hughes. We have started the term by looking at 'Dogger' by Shirley Hughes, which is a wonderful story about a little boy who loses his beloved teddy, 'Dogger'. We will be exploring this text through freeze-framing, drawing, sentence and word-level learning.

Science will be about materials. We will be identifying everyday materials and sorting objects into groups based on the material they are made from.

PE will continue to be every Tuesday afternoon, so please have an appropriate PE kit in school.

Forest School will be Thursday mornings. Please remember to come to school wearing your Forest School kit and appropriate footwear. Check the Class Dojo page for regular updates on Forest School.

Your child should have their reading book in school every day and should practice reading at home on a daily basis. Reading books will be changed every Friday.

If you ever have any questions, I am available at the classroom door every day after school or can be contacted on ClassDojos.
