Year 1 - Ladybird Class
Welcome to Ladybird Class, our teacher is Mrs Pursey
We are going to have lots of fun and do lots of new learning!
.This term we have a Geography focus and will be answering the enquiry:
How does the weather affect our lives?
We will be learning about different types of weather and how it changes across the seasons. We will use: a thermometer to check the temperature; a rain gauge to see how much rain water has fallen; an okta to check the cloud coverage and a weather vane to identify the wind direction. We will also investigate how the weather affects them daily and seasonally.
We will be looking at rhyming words this term in English, through Julia Donaldson books. We will continue working lots on our Phonics in order to blend and segment to read and write. The children will continue to bring a new reading book home each Monday, which links to the sounds they are learning in Phonics. Please read with your child daily to help them consolidate their learning in school, this can be recorded in their reading records. We ask that book bags and reading books are in school every day to allow the children to read in school also, as well as earn dojos for reading daily.
We have indoor P.E on a Monday and outdoor P.E on a Friday. They can keep their P.E kits in their lockers. P.E kit should include; the house colour t-shirt, shorts or jogging bottoms, plimsolls or trainers.
We have Forest School every Wednesday. Please send in clothes you don't mind getting wet and muddy in a named bag. As the weather gets colder they may need to bring in additional layers and warm clothing. They will need; trousers, jumper, wellies and a waterproof coat.
