Welcome to Dragonfly Class, our teacher is Miss Stevens

                    Welcome back to Term 5, I hope you all had a restful holiday.

  Our historical enquiry this term is 'How have explorers changed the world?'

Within this enquiry the children will learn about the lives of explorers and the different challenges they met when travelling the world. They will consider the positive or negative impacts of these explorers. They will develop their knowledge of significant people's lives, consider the qualities that helped them achieve and learn how they might apply those qualities to their own lives.

Forest School

During Term 5 Dragonfly class will have forest school for the first 3 Fridays of term. (19th April, 26th April and 3rd May). The children will need appropriate clothes and wellies for this as it is often quite muddy and wet.  

P.E

PE days will be Mondays (indoors) and Tuesdays (outdoors). All children should have a PE kit to change into. It should include a named 'house' T-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms and a pair of plimsolls/trainers. No earrings should be worn on PE days.

Reading and Homework

Year 1 children are developing their reading skills, and it is very important that they read regularly. Each week they will bring home a phonics reading book that will help them to practise the phonemes (sounds) they have been learning in their phonics lessons. They will earn dojo points for every day they read at home during the week. Please aim to read with your child for 10 minutes every day. Book bags with reading books should be in school every day.

Home learning is given on Fridays and should be completed and handed back by the following Thursday.
