At Pilgrims’ Way Primary School we believe that our languages curriculum provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for all of our pupils. We aim to provide opportunities for all pupils to engage with a range of spoken languages through our language of the term programme. Pupils share their first languages with one another, teach their peers about personal experiences and relish the chance to include everyone in this learning process. We do this as a whole school through Language of the Term. Children and adults learn together whilst celebrating the knowledge of these languages within our school community.

In key stage 2 pupils learn French, our languages curriculum has been designed to progressively develop children’s skills in languages and ensure that pupils develop communication skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. We aim to encourage children’s confidence, plan engaging and enjoyable lessons and continuously stimulate children’s curiosity about languages.
