Term 5
Welcome back to Term 5
This term we will focus on our History enquiry, 'How have explorers changed the world?'. We will be learning about what an explorer is and when and where they have travelled. We will be looking at who Christopher Columbus and Matthew Henson were and what they did, and also how exploration has changed from past to present.
In English, we will be looking at a variety of texts to support our enquiry question, such as 'We’re going on a bear hunt' by Michael Rosen, 'The boy who sailed the world' by Julia Green and Alex Latimer and 'The Great Explorer' by Chris Judge. We will be exploring these texts through freeze-framing, drawing, sentence and word-level learning.
In Maths, we are looking at 'Multiplication and Division' and 'Fractions'. We will be learning to count in 2's, 5's and 10's, making doubles, and recognising half and a quarter of a quantity.
PE will now be every Wednesday morning instead of Tuesday afternoons, so please have an appropriate PE kit in school.
Forest School will be Thursday mornings. Please remember to come to school wearing your Forest School kit and appropriate footwear. Check the Class Dojo page for regular updates on Forest School.
Your child should have their reading book in school every day and should practice reading at home on a daily basis. Reading books will be changed every Friday.
If you ever have any questions, I am available at the classroom door every day after school or can be contacted on ClassDojos.
