Term 2

English - reading and writing

This term we will be reading the Roald Dahl classic Boy. It is a special kind of autobiography from one of the great children's authors. Our English will continue this theme and children will be writing about significant events that have happened in their lives. We were also thrilled to get an email from Hannah Gold's Personal Assistant letting us know she had received our letters and that she would be in touch soon!

Maths

In maths the children will be building their skills in multiplication and division before moving on to fractions. They will practise solving problems, using different calculation strategies, and applying their learning to real-life situations. These units will help the children become more confident and fluent mathematicians.

Science

Our Science learning will be exploring the wonders of Earth and space. The children will learn about the solar system, including the planets, moons, and the Sun, and discover how the Earth moves to create day, night, and the seasons. They will also investigate the Moon’s phases and explore how scientific knowledge about space has developed over time. Through hands-on activities, models, and experiments, the class will develop their curiosity, observational skills, and understanding of key scientific concepts.

History

This term, we will be exploring how the Maya civilization compared to the Saxons. The children will investigate aspects of daily life, including homes, food, beliefs, and social structures, learning how different environments and cultures shaped people’s lives. They will also explore achievements such as Maya writing, mathematics, and architecture, and compare these with Saxon society in Britain. 

P.E

P.E. is on Wednesdays. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit.

 

Forest School

Forest School will start this week, but will be in smaller groups. Children will be told which group they are in on or before Thursday.
