Year 3 - Kingfisher Class

Welcome to Kingfisher Class

Class Teacher: Mr Dickens

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Cooper and Mrs Ali

Welcome to Term 5

I hope everyone had a lovely half-term break.

Our History enquiry this term is, 'What was important to ancient Egyptians?'. The children will be exploring Ancient Egyptian beliefs and how advancement in trade brought about change.  They will also learn how the achievements of ancient civilisations contributed to the development of technology, culture and science.

Our reading book this term will be 'The Boy Who Stole the Pharaoh's Lunch', written by Karen McCombie.  In our story, prankster Seth picks up an Egyptian amulet from the desk and is whisked back in time to Ancient Egypt. In a village by the Nile, Seth steps in to save a hyena that was destined to become the Pharaoh's lunch.  What consequences will Seth have to face for stealing the pharaoh’s lunch?

Our science this term is ‘Plant Reproduction’.  Year 3 will be studying the structure and function of flowering plants. They will also be investigating how plants transport water and how different flowers and plants disperse seeds.

PE will be on a Friday afternoon, where the children will be learning tag rugby skills. Please could the children have an appropriate PE kit in school.

Kingfisher’s Forest School sessions will take place in the latter half of the term.  They will take place on Wednesday afternoons (starting 7th May 2025). Please remember your Forest School kit and appropriate footwear. Check the Class Dojo page for regular updates on Forest School.
