Year 5 - Otter Class

 Welcome to Otter class

Class Teacher: Mrs Webb

Teaching Assistant: Mr Dole

Term 5

Our enquiry this term is history-based and will ask, What was life like in Tudor England? This unit of study will investigate the leadership of Henry VIII, and we will discuss how Elizabeth I used royal progresses to make herself better known throughout England. We are very privileged to have been invited to participate in a special festival linked to this learning at Hampton Court Palace, which will also involve a trip to St. Augustine's Abbey this term to see how Henry VIII's influence affected the city of Canterbury.

For reading, we will continue to study Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo, a gripping story about a boy who, through tragic circumstances, finds himself alone in a jungle with only animals as friends.

P.E will be on MONDAYS this term and will be outside. Children must bring their kit into school in a bag ready to change into after lunch. Earrings will need to be removed for P.E lessons.

We will have Forest School every fortnight this term. The dates are: Friday, 2nd May and Friday, 16th May. Children will need to bring their kit into school ready to change after lunch. Please be mindful of the changing weather and choose appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather.
