Term 6

Enquiry Question - Geography

How can we live more sustainably?

This enquiry is an important one for children as it deals with a problem that the world is trying to solve. We will focus on understanding the key word - sustainable - and analyse how our classroom, school and own lives fit into a sustainable lifestyle. We will look at some key solutions that people are working on in different parts of the world and how nature is being affected by the choices we are making.

Forest School

As it is Term 6, there are a lot of events that affect the school calendar. Please check Class Dojo regularly for updates on Forest School days. Our first Forest School session is Thursday 5th June.

Please send your child into school wearing their school uniform with a Forest School kit in a bag. Please ensure the Forest School clothes are appropriate for the weather that day.

Please send in wellies that can be kept in school to utilise the outdoor learning spaces every day.

PE

Our PE lessons will be on a Tuesday afternoon. This term, we will be learning a combination of cricket and rounders. We will be on the field for these lessons, so please send in the appropriate PE kit.

Please make sure earrings are able to be removed by the child or taped up - this is a safety precaution.

We will also have Sports Day this term and so will practice for that!

Reading

Our book this term is: The Last Bear by Hannah Gold.

This heart-warming book follows the adventures of a young girl who bonds with a stranded polar bear on a remote Arctic island. This story shares the powerful message of how one person can have a powerful impact in fighting against climate change.

Please encourage your child to read every day at home! The more children read, the better they perform in all areas of their life.

Please contact our teaching team if you would like any support with reading at home.

Key skills

All children have log-in details for TTRockstars. We would encourage children to avoid/limit screen time; however, if they are using a device, please encourage the children to practice their key skills of times tables with websites like these.
