Year 3 - Robin Class
Welcome to Robin Class
Class Teacher: Miss Hebditch
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Chongbang and Miss Chapman
Welcome to Term 5
I hope everyone had a lovely half-term break.
I would just like to introduce myself here; I’m Miss Hebditch, and I’m so pleased to be joining Robins Class! I have a real love of ancient history, so I’ve certainly joined at the right time as we go back in time to Ancient Egypt this term, exploring the Pharaohs, pyramids and mummification! Outside of school I enjoy driving off into the countryside for a weekend of walking and camping (as long as the sun is out!).
Please do come and say hello when you can, I am always here for a chat after school and there is no question or concern too big or small- I will always do my best to support in any way I can. I am really looking forward to the next two terms with the Robins and know we will have a lot of fun with all our learning together!
Our History enquiry this term is, 'What was important to ancient Egyptians?'. The children will be exploring Ancient Egyptian beliefs and how advancement in trade brought about change. They will also learn how the achievements of ancient civilisations contributed to the development of technology, culture and science.
Our reading book this term will be 'The Boy Who Stole the Pharaoh's Lunch', written by Karen McCombie. In our story, prankster Seth picks up an Egyptian amulet from the desk and is whisked back in time to Ancient Egypt. In a village by the Nile, Seth steps in to save a hyena that was destined to become the Pharaoh's lunch. What consequences will Seth have to face for stealing the pharaoh’s lunch?
Our science this term is ‘Plant Reproduction’. Year 3 will be studying the structure and function of flowering plants. They will also be investigating how plants transport water and how different flowers and plants disperse seeds.
PE will be on a Friday afternoon, where the children will be learning tag rugby skills. Please could the children have an appropriate PE kit in school.
Robin Class Forest School sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoons. Please remember your Forest School kit and appropriate footwear. Check the Class Dojo page for regular updates on Forest School.
