Term 5

This is an extremely important term for Year 6 as we will be preparing for the SATs in Week 5. The children have worked so hard this year and will be eager to do their best when the time comes. 

This term we are moving back to a History topic, asking the question, 'Who should feature on the £10.00 note?' which prepares the children for the challenges of Key stage 3 History. It gives them the historical skills of inference, extracting information from sources, evaluating historical figures and the opportunity, like historians, to decide their criteria for significance. The unit also allows the children to consider the contributions to Britain of a diverse group of people, whose experiences are less well-known.

For our class reading lessons this term we will continue to read "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by Frank L. Baum, around which we will be doing some interesting and exciting writing tasks in our English lessons.                                          

PLEASE NOTE, P.E this term will be on a Friday, during which the children will enjoy Cricket  from a coach from Kent Cricket Club. Please send your child to school in their P.E kit with their uniform in a clearly marked bag.

Forest School will continue the new routine of three weeks in a row, beginning on Tuesday 16th April. Please ensure suitable clothing is brought in, bearing in mind the weather is cooler now and the area can be extremely muddy. 

Following the three weeks of Forest School, we will be doing a three week block of Tennis on a Tuesday, for which the children will also need their P.E kit please.
